While dark spots and uneven skin tone are related, they’re not entirely the same. Uneven skin tone is a general term that refers to variations in skin color, which can include visible hyperpigmentation (dark patches) or hypopigmentation (light patches). Dark spots specifically refer to localized areas of increased hyperpigmentation. Essentially, dark spots are a subset of uneven skin tone.
